Elegance, Beauty and the Boys

It required much thought before I started photographing people. I felt that to make the pictures come to life it was necessary to capture a part of the subject's personality. I had numerous opportunities and decided that capturing women was a significant challenge. Age made a difference and mature women are a delight with the wisdom they've gained and show in their expressions. It was also a great place to add "The Boys." May I present to the viewer what I saw in the camera lens and editing process.

This is my artist friend that I met quite by accident, put on two art shows with her and developed a lasting friendship. She is an extremely attractive African American woman who possesses a winning smile and personality. She talks so softly that sometimes I have trouble hearing her. Her eyes always sparkle when she speaks. She shares her talents with teenagers and pushes them to achieve. On this shot I applied a few techniques. The background effect was from Microsoft Word along with Picasa and Adobe photoshop editing. It prints and frames well.

I was doing a shoot of 80+ women of our local Red Hat ladies. This woman came from out of town and I had not met her before the shoot. Getting everyone to give me a good smile was a challenge. This lady presented a most friendly and welcoming smile. We joked for a minute, then I snapped three pictures. They were all pleasant. The shadows fell nicely and emphasized her features. It was almost as if I knew what I was doing! I'm sure her family enjoys her smile and personality as well.

I'll have to rebuild this file from scratch. May 2018

This is my friend Angela. I've known her for a number years. Coordinating students for the classes I taught required her help. We laughed a lot and had a good time. She has worked as a realtor and I took numerous photos of Angela when she first started. I liked the particular shot as it showed her nice features.

This shot was taken in March 2012. She is the woman featured in "The Attempt." It was a warm spring day in a park close to my home. We shot over 300 pictures that day. We laughed, joked and had a great time. This was taken with my old faithful Nikon D200. The way she posed for this shot was everything I was attempting to capture. There was just enough wind to move her hair perfectly. It met all my objectives.

Two brothers caught in a moment of perfect behavior. There are also two girls in the family. The boys are a handful, but they photograph well. How they managed to sit still was epic, but it made it easy for me to catch the love they have for one another. The bigger brother's care for the younger one is quite evident. The family smiles a lot. I'm sure they get this from their mother as she always has a smile. I enjoy viewing this effort.
